Lennox’s Super Speedy Birth

When I lived in Frederick I served as a birth advocate and photographer around the Frederick and DC areas. Liz and I clicked, and I fell in love with her family. They’ve moved away, and I miss them dearly. When Liz booked me, I knew it would take me an hour to get to Liz and Lennox. I had my bag packed and ready to run out the door. Liz texted me one morning while I was working and said that contractions had started but were slow. She didn’t know if she was in full blown labor, so I told her to talk to her doctor and to time them. I love Contraction Master for a simple, easy way to time labor contractions. (I still have a screenshot of contraction times from my first labor!)

About 30 min later she said that Bill was coming home, and they were going to head to the hospital. I gathered my things, made arrangements for a neighbor to pick up my kids, and headed to DC. . . quickly! Liz said the contractions were coming faster and handed her phone to Bill. I was 20 minutes from the hospital when Bill texted and said Lennox had been born! Lennox’s birth was super speedy and super intense, and I captured his first moments in our world.

From the start he was an excellent yet sleepy nurser. Formula was being pushed for low blood sugar… it happens when you have this huge journey into the world. Liz had her heart set on breastfeeding, and I was all in for her desires and needs. We called in a midwife to help us advocate and even with a tongue-tie we got Lennox latched, nursing, and increased his blood sugar levels. They carried on a beautiful breastfeeding relationship. Moms can do anything!
